Tide Pools – Learn About What You See

tidepoolLincoln City will be offering “clinics” about the creatures that you may find when you are exploring the tide pools in the area.   Periodically from March thru July, you can join Dr. Chuck at the 15th Street Beach Access where he will provide a brief lecture and then take you on a tour of the tidepools where you can see sea creatures like starfish, anemones, crabs.   Each of the clinics will last about 2 hours.

Make sure you bring some gloves, and depending on weather you may want raingear and sunscreen as well.   It’s also nice to have rubber boots to trudge around in the water.

Finders Keepers is Coming – Oct 17, 2015 – Nov 12 Special Drop

glass-float-on-beach-stump

There will be a special float drop on November 12, 2015 celebrating Veterans Day.  50 Red White and Blue floats will be placed for your beach-combing pleasure.   Let us know if you find one!!!

The annual glass float tradition continues.   This year starting on October 17th and continuing until Memorial Day (May 30, 2016) you will have the opportunity to once again Find and Keep these absolutely stunning pieces of art glass created by local glass artists.

Floats and other art glass are found ABOVE the tide line and below beach embankments along the 7 1/2 miles of public beach from Roads End, down to the Siletz bay.  They do not “bury” them but they are sometimes cleverly hidden in the grasses and in the driftwood.   Floats are also NOT placed during storms.

We’d love you to plan a family holiday to Lincoln City for some float hunting.  Perhaps you can start a new family tradition.   Lincoln City Beach Retreats offers great accommodations and we currently have many dates available for fall and early winter bookings.

Lincoln City Chalk Art Challenge – July 11

chalkitupIf you happen to be in Lincoln City on July 11th you should plan to stop at the Lincoln City Cultural Center (just north of the D river and south of 6th) for the Chalk Art Competition.   This is the second time this event has been held in what appears to be a new annual event for the city.

All skill levels (children, families and accomplished artists) are invited to attend.   The day starts with a free workshop from a professional chalk art instructor from 9 to 11 and then everyone is invited to create their masterpieces from 11 to 3.   The competition is broken into categories for the awards and prizes.

If you are not wanting to be a chalk artist there will be booths setup on the lawn that will sell food and drink.  Stop by and take a look at what these artists are doing…

There’s always something fun going on in Lincoln City or the surrounding area.   Perhaps you should consider visiting… Lincoln City Beach Retreats can offer you accommodations…check us out!
